Biggenden | Southern Great Barrier Reef Biggenden | Southern Great Barrier Reef

Biggenden lies under the protective guise of Mount Walsh National park. You can’t miss this prominent landmark with its exposed granite outcrops, rugged ridges and steep forested slopes. It’s a hikers delight with experienced walkers invited to take the two and a half hour hike to the summit to be rewarded with stunning views. If hiking isn’t for you, then make sure you check out the main street and snap up a loaf of the ‘tri-colour’ bread from the bakery before it sells out

Biggenden was founded in 1889 as a service centre to the short-lived goldrush towns of Paradise and Shamrock. The Paradise Dam is about 30 minutes north-west of Biggenden on the Burnett River.
