SGBR a top holiday destination in Queensland! | Southern Great Barrier Reef

SGBR a top holiday destination in Queensland!

With a reputation as safe, uncrowded, affordable, laid back, clean, green and super friendly, the Southern Great Barrier Reef destination has been a favourite for Aussies over the past couple of years, and our international visitors, particularly from the UK and Germany are already returning in strong numbers since borders re-opened!

Official Tourism Research Australia data for the year ending March 2022 revealed that two (2) million Aussies visited the Southern Great Barrier Reef destination which includes the stunning islands of Lady Elliot, Lady Musgrave, Heron, Wilson, Great Keppel and Pumpkin islands, the popular coastal towns of Yeppoon, Agnes Water/Town of 1770, Bargara, and the regional cities of Bundaberg, Gladstone, Rockhampton and Emerald.

The coastal gems of Yeppoon, Agnes Water/Town of 1770 and Bargara are particularly showing very positive occupancy growth over the past two and a half years.

Visitors to the Southern Great Barrier Reef destination are spending more than in previous years which is a very good reflection on the experiences they are enjoying whilst here including tours and attractions and dining out.

Our international visitors can experience every piece of Australia in the SGBR, from reef to rainforest, outback experiences to country lifestyle, coastal villages to city sidewalks.
